James Aston

James founded Aston Fisher in 2012 with one purpose in mind – to do search better. With over 25 years UK and International executive search & interim management experience, James has delivered over 450 mandates for board level and corporate officer roles across a broad range of industry sectors and offers clients a network and depth of knowledge that reflects this.

Prior to founding Aston Fisher, James built the HR practice of another leading search & interim management firm. He became Managing Director of that company, following a successful acquisition.

He handpicked his team of industry experts at Aston Fisher, because we all share the same ethos - collaborative search rather than traditional siloed search practices; delivering the very best client and candidate outcomes & leveraging tech and data to minimise the risk for critical hiring decisions.

Originally a marine biologist, James loves anything to do with the water, be that in it (diving, swimming and surfing) or on it (sailing, paddle boarding and rowing). He also has a passion for tennis, and admits he doesn’t move (or see!) like he used to and takes a distant 4th place behind his wife and two sons in the Aston household!
